Oops, sorry I haven't updated recently. You know how life gets busy. I finally finished reading my first pregnancy book ("YOU: Having a Baby")and am finally on the second ("Babywise") - I don't know how some girls have the time to read a million books during pregnancy. Maybe it's because I'm a slow reader? IDK, but after working 10 hour days and coming home to cook dinner, I'm more than ready to hop into bed. Where oh where is this second trimester burst of energy that people kept telling me about?! I definitely have not fit all these pregnancy norms that people talk about. As far as I know Little One is doing just wonderful. It's hard at this point because I can't feel him/her and there's no way for me to really know how things are going.
I had an ultrasound at 13 weeks 6 days (2/19/09) and got some beautiful ultrasound pictures. I'll be sure to post a few of my favorites. I got to see Little One moving it's arm around and even suck it's thumb! I am completely in love and smitten with my Little One!
I was lucky enough to spend my 28th birthday with my family in Amarillo and have the week off for spring break. It was a much needed break. I took the boys (Burty and Duncan) with me, and Gabe stayed home, with the girls (Addison and Abbi), to work (boo!). It was really nice spending time with my parents and getting to see Grandma and Nana and Papa. Lisa brought my oh so cute nephews (Hunter and Dillan) to play for the week as well, and they always wear me out but being an Aunt rocks!
The last appointment (3/19/09) I didn't get an u/s but I did hear his/her heartbeat, and what a lovely sound it is! This visit was mostly chit chatting with doctor and more blood work. We discussed c-sections and inducing, of which I would prefer not to do unless medically necessary, and the doctor said if that is what I want that is what we will do. I was happy to hear those answers and that we were on the same page. We discussed some of my blood work that came back negative (yay! we are so blessed!) for the trisomy screenings (which includes disorders such as down syndrome) and more blood work was taken to test for spina bifida. My next appointment (which happens to be on Burty's birthday - April 9th) I will get to see my Little One again and I can't wait!
As I mentioned, Burty's birthday is coming up and he will be 6. WOW!!!! My how time flies! Addison's birthday is also next month and she will be 3. My babies are growing up. I had quite the scare yesterday when the boys got out and went on an adventure. The lawn people had left the gate open and they got out of the yard. I was freaking out (this is my worst fear, loosing my babies) and made Gabe leave work to start heading home to help me look. Duncan came running before I even backed the car out of the driveway, but it was a bit longer before Burty came running back with a big smile on his face. I'm guessing they had made it to the bayou near my house because they reeked from head to toe. Needless to say I had Gabe find a lawn mower right away and we are going to do it ourselves from now on. I am so relieved to have all of my boys back at home safe and with me!
Oh! I think we have chosen a name for Little One! I'm not putting it in here yet because I haven't had a chance to tell my parents and I want them to know before I tell everyone. We were having some troubles coming up with names, anything I suggested Gabe thought was too weird, and anything he suggested I though was too boring. Hopefully the next time I've updated I'll have talked to my parents and will be able to include Little One's name in the update. :-)
This weekend I will be 19 weeks pregnant. From crown to rump Little One is about 5 1/4 to 6 inches and weighs about 7 ounces. He/she has the same sleep patterns as a newborn and even a favorite sleeping position. Scalp hair has sprouted and will continue to grow. If we chose, we could find out if our Little One is a boy/girl during an u/s, but we are waiting for this surprise until August when we get to meet him/her.
Thank you all for reading my updates, it means alot to me that you take the time and care enough to read about some of the goings on in our lives. I am loving being pregnant, I love being a Mommy, and I am so excited to share the experience with all of you.
